BREED SOCIETIES:

Twin Rivers Stud is affiliated with the Dutch Breed book -known as the KFPS  (web: english.kfps.nl/ ) and also the Australian Friesian Horse Society (AFHS ~ web: https://www.afhs.org.au/ ) which allows for our purebred Friesians to be registered and if sold on, for the registrations to be transferred in to the new owners names.  For purebred Friesians to be eligible for presentation at the bi-annual Keuring (the next Victorian judging is being held in March / April 2020) owners must be current financial members of the two above associations and the horse being presented must be registered in the presenting owner's name.

The KFPS produce a Friesian Horse magazine called "Phryso" which is in Dutch, with an English version available online at:  English Phryso

Our Friesian cross foals are registered with the Australian Friesian Warmblood Association (AFWHS ~ web: www.anzfhs.org.au/ ) and can be discussed when you adopt one of our progeny.

The societies do have memberships available to people who do not own horses, and keep members up to date with developments and special programs being offered through emails, postal correspondence and a monthly/bi-monthly/annual magazine.

BREED INFO:

Please use the links above to source information about the Black Pearls, and be particularly careful when buying your Dream Friesian so that you don't end up buying a Nightmare instead.  There is a lot of information contained on the websites, and the Board members are also very helpful in answering questions.

Please feel free to ask us any questions as well, we have been breeding for over 20 years now, and are happy to help fellow Friesian Lovers find their perfect horse.

One of the best and most indepth info articles I have read is in Issue 11 of Baroque Horse Magazine -  written by Hans Maes, who was President / Chairman of the ANZFHS Inc for twelve years.  If you are not able to purchase a copy of Issue 11 Baroque Horse Magazine, please contact us and we can share a copy with you

JUDGING THE FRIESIAN HORSE:

The KFPS conducted a Webinar during 2017 on the "Judging of the Friesian Horse" which explains the process the judging jury work through when assessing a horse at a Keuring.  We have found it gives us a greater understanding and goals to work towards within our breeding program.

The following links are to some of our favourite websites, whether it be for horse gear or general information - basically what we like to surf on the net.  We hope you enjoy, and if you are looking for information relating to something specific, please contact us - if we don't know we will consult our sources and come back to you.

In the meantime . . . . . . . HAPPY  FRIESIAN  DREAMING !!

FRIESIAN MERCHANDISE:

One of our all time favourite stores that specialises in Friesian tack and merchandise is Tweespan - located in Friesland, Holland.  If you are searching for something in particular, please email Elzelien Renssen and Sybren Minkema through the contact page and I am sure they will try to track it down for you.  We have recently recieved our custom fitted Tweespan Phryso saddle, made to measure for our Wilbert van Gelder - just an amazing saddle to ride in.

One of our most favourite magazines is Baroque Horse Magazine - it is available by subscription (on-line version or hardcopy) or can be purchased at most news agencies.  BHM specialises in articles relating to all breeds of baroque horse : Friesian, Andulusion, Lusitano, PRE, Lippizaner, just to name a few.
